The Medicine Course in Bulgaria: What You Study in Six Years, From Anatomy to the State Exams

Medicine in Bulgaria is a six-year integrated master's that ends with the title of Master of Medicine and the qualification of physician. Its structure is set by a national regulation, so all six universities teaching it in English follow the same outline: five years of study and a final year of hospital internship ending in state exams.

The language problem

Lectures are in English, but patients in Pleven, Varna or Stara Zagora speak Bulgarian. Students who keep up their Bulgarian classes get far more from the clinical years. It is also the language of the internship. Fees, budgets and FMGE results are in the MBBS in Bulgaria section.
